Hi, I’m Jen Armitage — the designer behind My Psych Toolbox.

I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), but my journey in mental health began long before I ever stepped into a therapist’s chair. For years, I’ve been creating practical, accessible tools for the people doing the heavy lifting — social workers, educators, behavioral specialists, ministry leaders, and therapists like you. I’ve combined my love for illustrating coloring pages and adding color and spacing to make information more dynamic and readable (especially for dyslexic’s like me) to freelance for nonprofits, therapists, churches, and schools.

It went much father than just graphic design. Before my therapy career, I made trauma-informed policies and materials, created programs for secondary-traumatic stress support for social workers, and provided leadership training to a multitude of organizations. I especially loved my work using Strengthfinders to help people find their strengths, purpose, and how to work best right where they are.

In my current clinical work, I specialize in supporting youth with autism and co-occurring challenges. And through My Psych Toolbox, I post materials I have personally used, made for clients, and channel my experience into making mental health materials that are clear, useful, and ready-to-go — because I know firsthand how overwhelming the workload can be. Those who help the most are most of the time overwhelmed, underpaid, with large caseloads, and very emotionally exhausting work. This is my way of helping those challenges.
